Research Intern
The Center for Conflict and Humanitarian Studies (CHS), part of the Arab Center for Research and Policy Studies, is seeking a full-time, paid Research Intern to support the STaR Syria research project.
The project examines the conditions under which returns to Syria can be stable and sustainable, contributing to both academic and policy debates on displacement, post-conflict recovery, and peacebuilding in the Syrian context.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct desk-based research, including literature reviews, media monitoring, and data gathering relevant to the project's thematic focus
Support the preparation of research outputs, including working papers, policy briefs, and academic publications
Assist with the organisation of project workshops and events
Translate and summarise Arabic-language source materials
Provide general research and administrative support to the project team
Requirements
A bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline (political science, international relations, conflict studies, Middle East studies, or a related field). A master's degree is an advantage.
Fluency in Arabic and English (written and spoken) is essential
Strong research and analytical skills
Good organisational skills and ability to work independently
Interest in Syria, displacement, and post-conflict recovery
Terms
Duration: 10 months, with the possibility of renewal subject to performance
Location: (on site) Doha, Qatar
Start date: Immediately
