Doha, Qatar - Al Jazeera Media Institute and the Center for Conflict and Humanitarian Studies (CHS) signed a cooperation agreement on 10 September 2026 in Doha. The agreement aims at strengthening cooperation and exchange of expertise in media, training, research and related areas and supporting the development of joint initiatives and projects of mutual interest.
The MoU provides a framework for cooperation in several areas including media training and production, translation and publication of joint outputs, development of joint projects related to media and journalism as well as cooperation on research and studies and organisation of joint seminars, conferences, and workshops.
Under the MoU, CHS will collaborate with the Al Jazeera Media Institute to create and deliver specialised training courses and programs on a variety of areas, including conflict, mediation, and negotiation; humanitarian action; governance, recovery, and public policy; disasters and displacement; peace, security, and peacebuilding; and media in conflict and humanitarian contexts.
Dr. Ghassan Elkahlout, Director of the Center for Conflict and Humanitarian Studies, emphasized that: “Our partnership with Al Jazeera Media Institute provides an important opportunity to bring together complementary expertise in media, conflict, and humanitarian studies. We hope to strengthen professional capacities and support more informed engagement with the complex challenges of conflict and humanitarian action through joint training, research, and knowledge exchange, as well as a deeper understanding of media professionals' complex environments."
