The Center for Conflict and Humanitarian Studies (CHS), along with the Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter School for Peace and Conflict Resolution at George Mason University, are currently hosts of the Journal of Peacebuilding & Development (JPD). In early 2024, CHS became the primary host, and will continue in this capacity for the next two and a half years (2024-2026). Dr Ghassan Elkahlout, the Director of CHS, is presently the Editor-in-Chief of JPD.

The Journal of Peacebuilding & Development (JPD) is a refereed journal that offers a forum for the exchange of different perspectives, fostering critical thinking, encouraging dialogue, and expanding networks between scholars and practitioners towards coherent, constructive action at the intersection of peacebuilding and development.

Our hosting of JPD reflects the commitment of CHS to integrating theory and practice and sustaining trans-disciplinary dialogues in peace and conflict studies, development studies, humanitarian policy, and related areas. JPD is also strongly committed to advancement of scholarship from the Global South, which coheres with the CHS core principle of localisation of knowledge production.

CHS welcomes the submission of original Articles, Briefings, and Policy Dialogues through the JPD submission site. We also welcome proposals for Special Issues of the journal on major cross-cutting themes that advance knowledge on peacebuilding and development. Scholars from the Global South are particularly encouraged to submit their papers to the journal.
