Building on its continued efforts to promote dialogue between the Afghan national authorities and I/NGOs, and to enhance the capacity of Afghan institutions and people, the Center for Conflict and Humanitarian Studies (CHS) held the second workshop in Kabul on July 14, 2024.

The second workshop brought together twenty-six officials representing key ministries and institutions in Afghanistan, along with representatives from national and international organizations.

The interactive discussions focused on several pressing issues facing Afghanistan including: the humanitarian and economic-development challenges, improving coordination between the authorities and I/NGOs, and the need for capacity-building programs within government and local institutions.

The workshop allowed for open discussions among participants to identify areas for improvement. There was agreement that the government's expected release of the national strategic plans would assist in aligning priorities among all stakeholders and improve collaboration and coordination. There was a broader consensus on ensuring the effectiveness of the humanitarian and development initiatives.

Participants welcomed CHS's efforts to continue to play a facilitating role as an independent research and policy center.

The first workshop in this series was held from January 28 to 29, 2024. It brought together ministers, officials, ACBAR, I/NGOs, donors, and UN agencies to discuss critical humanitarian, economic development, and education issues.

CHS aims, through its regular engagement with authorities and various stakeholders, to promote sustainable peace and stability in Afghanistan, ensuring a constructive two-way communication to address the critical needs of the Afghan people.
