The Center for Conflict and humanitarian Studies (CHS) is organising a panel discussion titled “Private Investment under Constraint: Reflections on the Afghan Experience", to be held on Wednesday 23 September 2026 at 14:30 (Doha Time), 003 Meeting Room - First Floor - Cultural Foundation in Doha, Qatar.
Against a backdrop of growing pressure on international aid budgets, this panel examines how private investment can contribute to private-sector growth in post-conflict settings. Focusing on Afghanistan, the discussion will assess the constraints shaping investment, identify sectors and firms with realistic potential for growth, and examine what has enabled successful investment in Afghanistan and other post-conflict contexts. It will then consider which of these approaches can be adapted or scaled to generate employment and contribute to broader economic recovery.
