United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA), the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), and the Center for Conflict and Humanitarian Studies (CHS) is organizing a workshop on “Monitoring Recovery and Building Resilience in Conflict-Affected Arab Countries: Developing an Integrated Framework through the Gaza Case", which will be held in Doha, Qatar, on 1–2 November 2026.

The workshop will bring together a select group of experts, representatives of national statistical offices and development planning authorities, and specialists from the United Nations system to examine the long-term impacts of conflict and occupation as well as progress towards resilience and recovery. Using Gaza as an initial case study, participants will contribute to developing an integrated methodology and institutional framework for periodically monitoring recovery outcomes and the resources mobilized in support of recovery, combining administrative and survey data, remote-sensing indicators and information on financial and non-financial South–South cooperation.

The workshop is expected to identify a core set of indicators and data sources, agree on validation and data-sharing arrangements, and develop a roadmap for establishing a recurring monitoring platform and periodic analytical note, designed to inform recovery and resilience policy formulation. The proposed approach is intended to be subsequently contextualized for other conflict- and occupation-affected countries in the Arab region.
