Beginning in the 1960s and lasting more than 50 years, internal conflict in Colombia saw an array of actors ranging from guerrilla groups to paramilitary groups and the Colombian military. During this conflict, an estimated 8.6 million Colombian victims were affected directly and indirectly. Tens of thousands were kidnapped or forcibly disappeared, 267,000 killed, and more than 7 million internally displaced. Given the number of actors, negotiations took place throughout the conflict.
