28th & 29th January – Afghanistan, Kabul

The Center for Conflict and Humanitarian Studies (CHS) and Agency Coordinating Body for Afghan Relief and Development (ACBAR) organized a two-day collaborative workshop on humanitarian and economic development. The event, held under the auspices of the Ministry of Economy and represented by Deputy Minister Mawlawi Mohammed Aleem Jamil, aimed to bring together key stakeholders from different line ministries and non-governmental organizations (NGOs).

In the first workshop of its kind in Kabul, 14 different line ministries working in various sectorial divisions, engaged in constructive dialogues, addressing the intricacies impacting aid delivery under diverse circumstances and the way forward to overcome and mitigate the impact of the current challenges facing the humanitarian work in Afghanistan. The discussions further delved into the alignment of development projects, technical capacity building, and comprehensive needs analysis within the education and development sectors.

The workshop outlined clear economic priorities across different sectors while proposing strategies to enhance collaboration between non-governmental institutions and sectoral departments within ministries. Additionally, emphasis was placed on building trust among stakeholders to facilitate smoother cooperation.

The collaboration with ACBAR is expected to be the first in a series of workshops to enable and strengthen the co-operation between line ministries, and national and international non-governmental organisations. The overarching goal is to build trust in the strategic targets set by ministries, while simultaneously developing a predictable set of rules for humanitarian access, assistance, and coordinated development projects.

The workshop signifies the Center's commitment to dialogue, capacity building, and advocacy, contributing to the long-term peace and economic recovery of Afghanistan. CHS is committed to continued collaboration, fostering a conducive environment for coordinated efforts that address the evolving needs of the Afghan people.
