The Center for Conflict and Humanitarian Studies is organising the second workshop under its Afghanistan Research and Policy Initiative (ARPI), which will be entitled "Unprecedented Terrains: Deliberating US Policy on Afghanistan under the new Trump Administration and Considering Evolving Regional Dynamics". The two-day workshop will be held in Doha on February 19 and 20, 2025.

Participants will include a select group of experts, scholars and representatives of relevant institutions. The workshop is organised as an invite-only expert roundtable and will be held off-the-record under the Chatham House Rule.

The discussion will deliberate scenarios for US policy on Afghanistan under a new administration as Donald Trump returns to the White House. Furthermore, participants will consider the implications of shifting regional dynamics, including recent tensions between Pakistan and Afghanistan. The workshop will attempt to offer an opportunity to examine internal Taliban dynamics and explore practical pathways for international and regional engagement with Afghanistan.
