The Center for Conflict and Humanitarian Studies is organizing a discussion on "Third Party Mediation in complex conflicts: Lessons Learned from the experiences of Qatar and Norway". The discussion will be delivered by Dr. Ida Bary, Director of Researchers for Peace and Development Institute (REPAD), and moderated by Dr. Abdulfatah Mohamed, Visiting Research Fellow at Center for Conflict and Humanitarian Studies.
The discussion aims to shed light on the international mediation methods used by Qatar and Norway in resolving conflicts. Both countries held several rounds of negotiation between the conflicting parties to reach peace agreements. In different contexts, each country achieved positive results, which contributed to maintaining international peace and security. For instance, Qatari mediation played an important role in reaching a peace agreement in Darfur, Chad, and Afghanistan recently. Norway on the other hand contributed to peace processes in Colombia and Philippine.
The event will be held online via Zoom, on Tuesday 15 November 2022, at 14:00 Doha Time. The discussion will be livestreamed in Arabic on Twitter, Facebook and YouTube.
