The Center for Conflict and Humanitarian Studies in Doha (CHS) in partnership with the Embassy of Armenia in Doha will host Mr. Narek Adamyan, co- founder of the Orbeli Analytical Research Center and political science lecturer at the Public Administration Academy of the Republic of Armenia, for a lecture entitled, "The Nagorno Karabakh Conflict: Current Situation and Possible developments." This lecture will be held at 16:30 Doha time (GMT +3) on Sunday, 20th February 2022 in Auditorium 2, Cultural Foundation Building, Doha Institute for Graduate Studies. It will be moderated by Professor Sultan Barakat, Founding Director of CHS.

The lecture will discuss the current conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan over the disputed region of Nagorno-Karabakh (NKR), specifically within the context of Armenian-Turkish and Armenian-Russian relations that have developed after the second Karabakh war. By analyzing the transformation of the Armenian-Russian strategic relationship, Mr. Adamyan seeks to uncover the complexities that have arisen out of Russian mediation. Recent developments in NKR and future prospects will also be examined to contextualize the current border crisis. Mr. Adamyan will also examine the trajectory of the conflict from its early beginnings to the progression of military hostilities that have led to the present negotiation process.

This event arises from CHS' commitments to promote dialogue and advance interdisciplinary analysis of conflicts, humanitarian issues, and peacebuilding around the MENA region and beyond. It also advances CHS' aim of collaboration as it pools expertise from the CHS team, event participants and attendees, and prestigious international academic and research institutions to explore the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
