The Center for Conflict and Humanitarian Studies (CHS), in collaboration with the European Institute of Peace (EIP), is organising a closed, invite-only expert meeting titled “Supporting Private Sector in Afghanistan: Linking Policy and Practical Initiatives." The meeting will be held on Tuesday and Wednesday, 22-23 September 2026, in Doha, Qatar.
The meeting forms part of the Afghanistan–Region–Europe initiative and builds on previous discussions concerning private-sector development and practical economic engagement in Afghanistan. It aims to advance pragmatic and actionable approaches that connect policy dialogue with practical initiatives to support Afghanistan's economic resilience and long-term stability.
It will bring together a select group of experts, policymakers, practitioners, and other relevant stakeholders for an open and constructive exchange. Discussions will consider Afghanistan's current political and socioeconomic context and explore opportunities for constructive engagement in several key areas, including access to finance, private-sector development, regional trade, digitalisation, climate resilience, and women's economic participation. The meeting will also examine practical initiatives emerging from previous discussions, including mechanisms for connecting knowledge, networks, and capital in support of Afghanistan's economic resilience and sustainable development.
