The Center for Conflict and Humanitarian Studies (CHS) and The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) are co-organizing a discussion with Ms. Kelly T. Clements, the UN Deputy High Commissioner for Refugees, on Sunday, 22 October 2023, at 17:00 Doha time (20:00 GMT). The discussion will focus on "Setting the Stage for the Global Refugee Forum: From Challenges to Opportunities".

Kelly T. Clements joined UNHCR as Deputy High Commissioner on 6 July 2015. Clements has been closely involved with refugee and displacement issues throughout her three-decade career. Prior to joining UNHCR, Clements was a member of the Senior Executive Service, serving as Deputy Assistant Secretary of State in the Bureau of Population, Refugees, and Migration (PRM) within the United States Department of State. From 1993 to 1996, Clements served at the U.S. Permanent Mission to the United Nations in Geneva, Switzerland, on a Foreign Service appointment and was Special Assistant to the Under Secretary of State for Global Affairs from 1997 to 1998.

The event will be held in person in the lecture Hall of the Arab Centre for Research and Policy Studies. Simultaneous interpretation between English and Arabic will be available.
