The Center for Conflict and Humanitarian Studies is hosting Dr. Dalal S. Iriqat, Assistant Professor of Diplomacy, Conflict Resolution and Strategic Planning at the Arab American University Palestine, in a public symposium entitled "From Jenin to Algeria - Revolution to Reconciliation". The Symposium will be held on Wednesday 19 October 2022 at 18:00 Doha Time. The discussion will be moderated by Dr. Ibrahim Fraihat, Dean and Associate Professor of Conflict Management and Humanitarian Action Program at the Doha Institute for Graduate Studies.

The symposium takes place following the signing by Palestinian factions of a reconciliation agreement in Algiers on 13 October 2022. The reconciliation agreement calls for holding legislative and presidential elections within one year and ending Palestinian divisions for the purpose of achieving national interests. The agreement encourages adopting dialogue and consultation among the various factions to resolve Palestinian differences and achieve national unity.

In this context, many questions must be asked regarding the strategic priorities and compass of the Palestinian struggle. In particular, the question arises 'who leads the Palestinian street?'. Is it the revolutionaries in Jenin, Nablus, and Jerusalem? Or the parties that signed the reconciliation agreement in Algeria? The recent events in Palestine speak a different language from that used by the reconciled parties in Algeria. Based on these developments, in which direction is the Palestinian resistance travelling? And, what are the prospects for implementing the reconciliation agreement?

The symposium will be held in the Lecture Hall – Second Floor – Arab Center for Research and Policy Studies. The event will be livestreamed in Arabic on the Center's Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube.
