The Center for Conflict and Humanitarian Studies in Doha (CHS) is hosting Dr. Abdiweli Mohamed Ali Gaas, the Former Prime Minister of Somalia, for a lecture entitled "A Challenging Transition in Somalia: Historical Perspective and Future Implications". The lecture will be held at 18:00 Doha Time (GMT+3) on Sunday 15 May 2022 at the Doha Institute for Graduate Studies. The event will be moderated by Dr. Ghassan Elkahlout, Director of the Center for Conflict and Humanitarian Studies.

The lecture will focus on the current situation in Somalia in light of historical perspectives and reflection on the challenges of addressing conflict between armed militias and the threat of al-Shabab. Dr Abdiweli Ali Gaas will discuss the political process of the "Roadmap for the End of Transition", which provided clear benchmarks leading toward the establishment of permanent democratic institutions in Somalia. The lecture will also suggest future implications about the Somali situation.

This event is in line with the commitment of CHS to promoting dialogue, meaningful involvement, and decision-making at all stages of conflict and transition processes. CHS deals with various parties involved in humanitarian action and peacebuilding to promote multi-track talks, mutual learning, and the development of common ground.

The event will be live streamed in English and Arabic on the Center's social media platforms @OnlineCHS; on Twitter, Facebook and YouTube.
