A panel featuring four members of the negotiation team of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan in the ongoing intra-Afghan peace negotiations in Doha was organized under CHS's Women ART Peace Programme in recognition of the role of Afghan women in peacemaking.
The panel featured H.E. Ms. Fatima Gailani, H.E. Ms. Habiba Sarabi, H.E. Ms. Fawzia Koofi, and H.E. Ms. Sharifa Zurmati. The discussion was moderated by Professor Sultan Barakat, Director of CHS, and attended via Zoom by renowned international experts in the region.
The discussion addressed challenges and opportunities for women's participation, Islamic perspectives for the peace negotiations, inclusive approaches to peacebuilding, and the supporting role of regional and international actors.
