Dr. Zureik is a Professor Emeritus in Sociology at Queen's University, Kingston, Ontario where he was awarded the Research Excellence Award. His research interests focus on the sociology of settler colonial societies and patterns of surveillance and study of Palestinian society. He holds a PhD in Political Sociology from the University of Essex, England. He is the former head of the Department of Sociology and Anthropology at the Doha Institute for Graduate Studies in Qatar. He is the author of multiple books and journal articles, one of which is 'Israel's Colonial Project in Palestine: Brutal Pursuit' published (Routledge Studies on the Arab-Israeli Conflict) in 2016.
