Maryam Almustafa Almashhwr is a Research Assistant at the Center for Conflict and Humanitarian Studies. She holds a master's degree in Conflict Management and Humanitarian Action from the Doha Institute for Graduate Studies. She received a diploma in Translation and her BA in English Language and Literature from Damascus university, Syria.
Prior joining the CHS, Maryam served for four years as EFL Instructor/ ESP Coordinator at the Arab International University (AIU). She also had two years of experience in the research and humanitarian field, and conducted fieldwork in Qatar, Bangladesh, and Sudan. Maryam contributed to the Qatar Red Crescent's Mental Health and Psychosocial Support project for Afghan refugees in Qatar. She also worked with Qatar Red Crescent Bangladesh Mission in Cox's Bazar city with the Rohingya refugees and focused in her work and research on the Rohingya women in the refugee camps. In Sudan, she conducted a field research, engaging with political and military figures in Khartoum and Darfur.
Currently, Maryam is engaged in implementing dialogue programmes in conflict-affected countries, such as Syria, Somalia, Sudan, and Afghanistan. With a main focus on Afghanistan, Maryam works with the CHS team on initiating multi-levels programmes supporting inter-Afghan dialogue, advocating the Afghan women's rights in education and work, and building the capacities of Afghan official institutions.
