​Dr. Hassan Elhag currently works as a senior researcher at the Center for Conflict and Humanitarian Studies. He holds a PhD in political science from the University of North Texas, and a master's in political science from the University of Missouri-Columbia. He served as President of the University of Medical Sciences and Technology in Khartoum. He won first place in the Arab Prize for Social and Human Studies presented by the Arab Center for Research and Policy Studies in 2013. He also has several research papers related to democratic issues and democratic transition in the Arab world.
