The decision of the United Arab Emirates to initiate full diplomatic relations with Israel perplexed some of those observing Arab affairs, since the UAE is not a "front line" state or engaged in warfare; logically there was no cause to "make peace". Nor has the UAE suffered economically in financially supporting the so-called confrontation or resistance countries; its expenditures either supporting or opposing movements of the Arab Spring far exceed those spent in confronting Israel. Justification for the move may thus be found in the political mix of domestic fears and foreign ambitions.
