The Center for Conflict and Humanitarian Studies is organizing the third workshop under the Afghanistan Research and Policy Initiative (ARPI) , which will take place on 4-5 May 2025, in Doha, Qatar. This invite-only research policy workshop will be under the Chatham House Rule, which aims to convene key stakeholders to assess institutional resilience, consider future scenarios and actionable pathways for Afghanistan as the country confronts the intersecting nexus of migration, displacement, and resource challenges, compounded by climate-change driven environmental degradation.

The two-day workshop is designed to achieve two key goals: first, it is focused on identifying policy pathways and carving practical interventions to strengthen Afghanistan's national institutions so that they can respond more competently to the interconnected challenges of the nexus outlined above. Second, the workshop will conduct a 'scenario analysis'—future projections—of the nexus as it intersects with the effects of climate change.

By aiming to achieve these goals, the workshop is expected to be a crucial opportunity to examine existing challenges and opportunities and consider future projections regarding the migration-displacement-resource nexus over the next 10 years.
