The Center for Conflict and Humanitarian Studies (CHS) in Qatar, the Folke Bernadotte Academy (FBA) of Sweden, and the Joint UNDP-DPPA Programme on Building National Capacities for Conflict Prevention, are convening a workshop in Doha to explore ways to strengthen support for national prevention efforts in line with the Pact for the Future and the Gulf Cooperation Council's Vision for Regional Security. The workshop will take place over three days, starting on January 12th and concluding on January 14th 2025.

This workshop will bring together Peace and Development Advisors (PDAs) deployed in complex conflict settings to draw on the complementary areas of interest, expertise and experience among the Joint Programme, FBA, and CHS. The workshop aims to reinforce PDAs capacity to support national conflict prevention efforts and explore opportunities for innovative partnerships, in light of the changing global environment, as well as identifying good practices in advancing the inclusion of women and young people in national conflict prevention, dialogue, peacebuilding and sustaining peace efforts. The outcomes of the workshop will attempt to contribute to discussions on the UN Peacebuilding Architecture Review in 2025 and planning on Joint Programme priorities for 2025.

The event will be opened by a High-level panelist who will reflect on the current challenges, opportunities and emerging trends in strengthening national prevention efforts amidst evolving global dynamics.
