COURSE OVERVIEW
The Crisis Leadership Program (CLP) — Extend is designed to strengthen participant's practice to lead effectively in dynamic and complex environments, fostering reflection on their own leadership and collaboration with peers. Grounded in principles of power awareness, equity, diversity, and inclusivity, the program supports participants to effectively engage and enable their teams and organisations, while creating opportunities to collaborate with peers and explore ways to work collectively to influence outcomes across the broader humanitarian system.
COURSE INFORMATION
Over the course of the program, you will:
Apply leadership approaches, tools and techniques to offer effective leadership in complex, rapidly evolving crises
Reflect on how compassion, courage and empathy shape leadership, practicing approaches that engage and enable others while considering power, influence, and diverse perspectives
Examine the purposes of leadership communication and apply approaches to engage stakeholders, recognising how messages are received across different viewpoints and experiences
Explore adaptive, equitable, and inclusive approaches to strategy and decision-making, cultivating new insights to guide leadership in crisis contexts
Identify opportunities to create positive impact to take back and test within your organisation and across the humanitarian system
Build networks and strengthen leadership influence through collaboration, peer learning, and shared reflection, fostering mutual support and collective problem-solving.
COURSE DELIVERY
The CLP offers hands-on short courses with flexible delivery models to meet the needs of people working in frontline crisis response and recovery. CLP Extend is centered on a five-day in-person course, with some preparatory work and follow-up co-development sessions, a collaborative peer learning approach where participants work together to reflect on insights, share challenges, and explore ways to enhance their leadership impact.
Daily sessions are structured to balance in-person learning with participants' work responsibilities. The overall time commitment is estimated at six full days, including the preparatory work, the intensive five-day course and coaching sessions.
FEES AND APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS
Course fees for CLP Extend (Doha) are subsidised by CHL. Course fees include the five-day training, accommodation (6 nights), breakfast, lunch and coffee breaks. Participants are required to fund their own transport to and from the training location in Doha, plus any meals and incidentals outside of the 5-days of the training program.
Applicants are required to complete an online form to capture their personal and work details, a short statement supporting the application, and upload a CV.
